Key Features of GePG

• Centralized Revenue Collection: GePG connects all public institutions to a single payment gateway, standardizing revenue collection practices across the government.

• Integration with Payment Channels: The system is integrated with multiple commercial banks and mobile money operators, allowing citizens to make payments through various channels such as M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money, and HaloPesa.

• Control Number System: Each payment is associated with a unique control number, enabling real-time tracking and automated reconciliation of transactions.

• Real-Time Reporting: Public institutions can access real-time payment reports, enhancing transparency and accountability in revenue management.

Implementation and Impact

As of July 2020, GePG had been implemented in over 660 public institutions and integrated with 28 commercial banks and 6 mobile money operators. The system has significantly improved revenue collection efficiency, increasing collections by 44.28% and reducing associated costs by 27.10% between 2015/2016 and 2019/2020.

Accessing GePG Services

• Online Portal: Citizens can access GePG services through the official portal at www.gepg.go.tz, where they can generate control numbers and make payments.

• Mobile Application: The GePG Tanzania mobile app, available on the Google Play Store, allows users to inquire, assess, and pay government bills directly from their smartphones.
