RTOC (TMS Check) FAQ

Explore Frequently Asked Questions about RTOC (TMS Check).

How do I check for traffic fines using RTOC/TMS?

To check for unpaid fines, visit the official Road Traffic Offence Check (RTOC) portal at tms.tpf.go.tz. You can search by entering your Vehicle Registration Number, Driving License Number, or the Reference Number of a specific notification.

How do I pay a traffic fine online?

Once you locate your fine on the TMS portal, the system will generate a Control Number (if one wasn't already provided on the physical ticket). You can use this number to pay via any mobile money service (M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money) or through banking agents by selecting 'Government Payments'.

What should I do if my payment is not reflected in the system?

If you have paid but the fine is still showing as 'Unpaid' on the portal, do not pay again. Keep your payment confirmation SMS or receipt and visit the nearest Regional Traffic Office or contact the TPF ICT support team to reconcile the payment manually.

Can I dispute a traffic fine listed on TMS?

Yes. If you see a fine that you believe is incorrect or not yours, you should not pay it immediately. Instead, visit the Traffic Police station where the offence was recorded (usually indicated on the ticket details in the portal) with your vehicle documents to lodge a formal complaint.
